It is no secret that Pat Sajak, of Wheel of Fortune fame, is a big NHL fan and attends Washington Capitals and Los Angeles Kings games on a regular basis.
As a season ticket holder on the glass at Verizon Center, more and more often Sajak ends up in photos as you can see on Dan Steinberg’s D.C. Sports Bog 2008 blog post, Pat Sajak Loves the Caps, and Russian Machine Never Breaks 2010 blog post Defending Mike Green’s fight against Ilya Kovalchuk.
As I opened a pack of 2011-2012 O-Pee-Chee hockey cards (from Upper Deck) I ran across another shot of Sajak, this time over the shoulder of Pittsburgh Penguins center Sidney Crosby.
Card #50 in the set is a regular card of Crosby, with the shot taken during a contest against the Caps at Verizon Center.
I don’t know if it was chosen for this reason but Sajak is definitely on the card.
Do you think he ever expected to have a rookie hockey card? Especially one he shares with Sid the Kid?
